2. Can I bring my dog with me to the cottage?
We have a strict no-dog policy at all of our Marielund cottages. This helps us to ensure that our guests with dog allergies will still be comfortable in Marielund.
3. Where are the cottages located?
The Marielund cottages are located on Marielundsvägen, 25830 Kimitoön just 100m from the sea. You can take a look at the map.
4. I am wondering when a certain cottage is available, how can I find out?
Take a look at our booking page to check the availability of the cottage you are interested in. By selecting the dates you are interested in on the calendar to the left you will find a list of the cottages that are available for those dates. You can also select the cottage you are interested in booking by clicking ‘book now’ and searching the calendar for when it is available.
5. What sorts of activities are available for me to do when I am at the cottage?
Our Marielund cottages are only 100m from the sea and in the middle of the beautiful Finnish forest. This makes it a prime location for swimming, boating, berry and mushroom picking and cross country skiing. 6. Do the prices listed on the booking page include Value Added Tax (VAT)?
The prices that are listed on the booking page do not include VAT. VAT of 10% on the cottage booking and 24% on boat rentals and final cleaning are calculated and shown in the final price when you make a booking.
7. How can I reserve a cottage?
You can reserve your cottage using our online booking system. Your reservation will then be confirmed via email within 48 hours. Cottages are reserved on a per night basis and we enforce a minimum of 2 nights booking during most of the year and 7 nights during summer holidays.
8. What does a cottage booking include?
Your cottage booking includes the use of the cottage for the period of time you have booked for. While making your booking, please specify if you would like any upgrades such as final cleaning, linens, boat rental, internet, baby bed/chairs etc. (please note, some of the upgrades such as internet and baby bed/chairs are free of cost but must still be specified).
9. I noticed that I have the option of upgrading my cottage rental with a final cleaning for 96euro. If I choose not to take the cleaning, what am I responsible for doing to clean the cottage myself?
By choosing not to order the final cleaning, you are responsible for fully cleaning your cottage before your checkout so that the cottage is in the exact same condition as when you found it and ready for the next guests. This means vacuuming, mopping, dusting, wiping counters, scrubbing the shower/toilet, cleaning mirrors and windows etc.
If you choose not to take the final cleaning, you are still responsible for cleaning your dishes, taking out the garbage and removing your sheets from the bed.
Failure to clean the cottage properly will result in being billed for it afterwards. More details about cleaning will be provided when you arrive.
10. Do I have to pay for the cottage in full when making a reservation?
You will be asked for a deposit of 10% when making a reservation with us. The rest of the balance can then be paid within 14 days after your reservation is confirmed (3 days if you will be staying with us within one month). 11. What payment methods do you accept?
You can pay for your cottage rental using Paypal, Visa, Master Card, American Express or a discover card account. The remaining of your balance can also be paid with bank transfer within Finland.
12. How can I be sure that my online payment is being handled securely?
Our booking tool has been built by Checkfront’s cloud booking system that is integrated with Paypal. The way it works is that Checkfront takes care of the booking part, and Paypal processes your payment.
Checkfront is protected with an industry standard 256 Bit SSL encrypted certificate and is served from its own virtual private database. They have been PCI DSS compliant and US/EU Safe Harbor certified. You can find out more about Checkfront’s data and privacy policies here.
PayPal processes your payment securely by encrypting your confidential information in transit from your computer to theirs using the Secure Sockets Layer protocol (SSL) with an encryption key length of 128-bits (the highest level commercially available). PayPal also checks that your browser is secure and uses SSL of 3.0 or higher. Find out more information of how PayPal processes your payments here.
13. I have booked, packed my bags and I’m ready to come! Where can I pick up the key?
You can pick up the key on your way to the cottage by stopping in at our place: Veslaxvägen 1219 A, 25820 Vestlax. Take a look at the map.
